Cromarty is situated at the mouth of the Cromarty Firth on the East Coast of the North of Scotland on the Black Isle in Ross and Cromarty. The Firth is guarded by the Soutars of Cromarty and the sheltered firth is used as a major refit area for Oil rigs.
The village is the birthplace of Hugh Miller.
